Inkygoodness received my beermats & they’re up on the facebook page
Hopefully they’ll get chosen, but if they don’t it was nice to revisit the Darwin idea again :)
These are progress shots of my entry for the Inkygoodness Beermat character competition; you can find info about the company & the competition on their facebook page
The competition ends Mid August so there’s still time if anyone wants to enter.
I don’t know if i’m allowed to attach them all together, but I had the idea to link them all on a chain & make it into a wall hanging, so just went with it.
Really enjoyed just sitting here for ages making it, not done collage for ages either it’s given me a taste for it again.
The idea I used is a rehashed one of my own from a book about Darwin I did for my final year at Uni last year, it was nice to revisit it :)
Small brooch featuring one of Darwin’s Finches, buy it here!
New pendants up for sale in my shop! Each one has a tiny print of one of my original illustrations (You can probably find the full original drawings on my behance portfolio, or in my tumblr archive, but i’m not exactly sure where they all are).
There’s just 1 of each for sale (although i’ve made a Floating Bear pendant for myself because it’s my favourite, & it’s yellow, & it’s based on a Modest Mouse song)
Buy them here
Close-up of the foreword of my Darwin book. Excuse my bad writing.
This is the cover, and title page of my handmade Darwin book thats going in my graduate show in a few weeks
Today was good, I finished painting my section for the graduate exhibition, and found out that ive been offered a summer placement at Carlton Cards so i’m in a really happy mood :)
Anddd.. i’ve almost finished the book cover for my Darwin drawings, I just need to put some holes in the spine so that I can fasten the pages in properly. I’m so happy with how it looks so far, i’ve never made anything like this before so it could have gone horribly wrong.
Today I bought a metre of green leather fabric for the cover of my Charles Darwin book. Its making me excited and wanting to abandon everything else and just get started on that, but I am resisting until next week when my other project will be finished.
The image above is one of the pages of the book, about when Darwin went to Edinburgh University. I can’t remember if ive posted this one before..
Another page of my handmade picture book about Charles Darwin, which ive been doing since 10:30 today and it is now 5:30 in the afternoon. It was supposed to be finished over a month ago, but I had dissertation issues and had to hand in half a book for this project…
One of three main points of Charles Darwins theory.
This is one of the pages of my handmade book about Charles Darwin. I wasn’t sure about colouring in the background at first, but i’m pleased with how it turned out. It’s supposed to be an educational book for young children, so I wanted simple drawings and lots of messy mixed media all over the pages, and different textures.
This didn’t photograph as well as I thought it would, the colours are a bit lighter in real life.
I need an A3 scanner.
I should be getting on with projects rather than uploading to tumblr…
Vegetarian Tree Finch
This is a section from a drawing I did for a project inspired by Charles Darwin. The writing is 1 of 3 main points of his theory (according to a book I read anyway).
Part of my development work I did last summer about Darwin’s finches
Another finished illustration for my Darwin story. It’s about how he didn’t like his subjects at Cambridge, so started attending botany lectures and beetle collecting.
